Adam Jaffrey is an established music producer, engineer and musician who works out of his studio, Unwound, in Southeast London.
Known for an artist-first, multi-disciplinary approach, Adam’s work spans records by Tom Misch, Yussef Dayes, Palace, Kofi Stone, Obongjayar, Loyle Carner, and K-Trap, among others. In 2020, Adam produced, wrote and mixed What Kinda Music by Tom Misch and Yussef Dayes, which received an Ivor Novello Award nomination for Best Album in 2021. He later engineered Obongjayar’s Some Nights I Dream of Doors, nominated for Best Album at the Ivors in 2023, and Black Classical Music, which won the Ivor Novello Award for Best Album in 2024.
His career in recording began with assisting roles at Radiohead’s studio, before developing further through his work as a musician with Trailer Trash Tracys, recording and touring internationally around their debut release on Domino Records. Adam’s studio practice is shaped by long-term creative relationships as well as new collaborations, working closely with artists throughout the writing and recording process at his Deptford studio.
“People are often confused by the terms engineer and producer. I’ve never found that delineation very useful. I get involved in writing sometimes too. Whatever role I’m in, I’m always thinking about the end result. What does it feel like to be inside the song? For the time it’s being made, I’m a custodian. I take care of it.”
